Microsoft issues giant patch

Microsoft released its largest collection of security patches in almost two years this week. The patches released on "Patch Tuesday" fix a total of 26 vulnerabilities, including six critical issues and five important issues.

The six critical issues allowed attackers to take control of an affected system.

One of the critical issues is a known issue in the ActiveX control for the Snapshot Viewer for Microsoft Access which allows an attacker to execute code on the affected machine.

A second critical issue is a fix for a problem in Microsoft Word that allows an attacker to take control of a system if a user opens a specific Microsoft Word document.

Another critical vulnerability in the Microsoft Image Color Management system is fixed by the patches released this week.

Details of all the vulnerabilities fixed with this patch release can be found at http://tinyurl.com/68cs6a
