IS Data Centre outage
An Internet Solutions (IS) data centre (DC) outage in Johannesburg today caused problems for many Internet users relying on services from providers collocating in the IS Bryanston DC. According to anecdotal evidence the outage started shortly after 14:00, and the DC was still down at the time of publication.
According to one MyBroadband member the whole Bryanston POP (point-of-presence) was down while another member confirmed that he could not reach his server hosted in the IS Bryanston DC.
In a network notice Internet Solutions informed clients that their Access, Hosting Backbone and MPLS VPN Backbone have been affected by the problems.
Sean Nourse, GM for Managed Services at Internet Solutions, explains that both their fibre links between Rosebank and their Bryanston data centre went down at the same time, causing an immediate data centre outage. A third backup link was then manually switched on which restored services.
