Telkom mum on potential staff cuts
Rumours are starting to emerge about significant staff cuts at the fixed line operator in future. MTN and Telkom are currently in discussion, signaling a potential acquisition of Telkom’s fixed line assets by the mobile provider.
While these discussions by no means guarantee such an acquisition, it does raise concerns about potential staff cuts.
Recent speculation suggests that Telkom may significantly cut both its contract and permanent staff numbers.
Telkom would however not confirm or deny the rumours, simply saying that “Telkom will not comment on speculation.”
