Telkom’s operating profits declines slightly
The Telkom Group’s operating revenue increased 8.4% to R51.619 Billion, while their operating profit decreased marginally by 1.4% from R 14.677 Billion to R14.470 Billion for the year ending 31 March 2007.
“The Telkom Group has delivered continued revenue growth in its mobile business segment and its fixed-line business segment in the face of increasing competition in the telecommunication sector,” said acting Telkom CEO Reuben September.
“The fixed-line business grew revenue by 1.7% despite tariff decreases and competition from mobile operators, VANS and ISPs,” he continued.
Telkom declares special dividend
On the back of their profits Telkom declared a R 6-00 dividend and a special dividend of R 5-00 per share.
“Notice is hereby given that ordinary dividend No 12 of 600 cents per share and special dividend of 500 cents per share in respect of the financial year ended 31 March 2007 has been declared payable on Monday 9 July 2007 to shareholders recorded in the register of the company at close of business on Friday 6 July 2007,” the Telkom SENS report said.
