Telkom cable break restored
A Telkom cable break which occurred 1.83kms from Telkom’s Halfway House exchange yesterday at 08:40 caused problems for many broadband subscribers, including Vodacom HSDPA and iBurst subscribers.
Telkom said that their surveillance personnel detected the break almost immediately when the incident occurred around 08:40 yesterday morning and technical personnel were dispatched to commence physical fibre restoration shortly thereafter.
“The first transmission link was restored at 15:35 yesterday afternoon and the last transmission link that was carried on the broken fibre was restored at 02:23 this morning,” Telkom said in a media statement.
Vodacom confirmed that services have been restored for their users and that ‘everything should run as normal’.
