Slow Internet Solutions ADSL explained
A number of Internet service providers (ISPs) that resell the ADSL products of Internet Solutions have notified customers of slow speeds on the IS network.
Internet Solutions is upgrading its IPC (Internet Protocol Connect) with Telkom to address the issue, the status notices said.
IPC is the wholesale product from Telkom which service providers must buy in order to offer their own ADSL services.
The executive for connectivity at Internet Solutions, Sean Nourse, confirmed the problem, attributing it to a massive growth in consumer DSL.
According to Nourse, this growth is “because of the success of all our ISPs provisioning new clients on [the IS] network.”
“As such our IPC bandwidth is at capacity,” Nourse said, adding that all of IS’s partners providing consumer DSL services will be affected.
In the notice to its users, Axxess said that IS estimates that the upgrades will be completed within one week.
Nourse said that the company has placed orders with Telkom to upgrade the IPC, and that it is working closely with Telkom’s assistance to install the additional capacity as soon as possible.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank all our loyal clients for their understanding and support while we do everything possible to resolve this,” Nourse said.
