Afrihost ADSL network upgrade
Afrihost is upgrading its ADSL network with new IPConnect (IPC) nodes in Cape Town and Durban, complementing its existing IPC node in Johannesburg.
“Telkom have committed that this additional capacity will be installed by no later the 25th February 2013,” Afrihost said.
Afrihost added that they are revising their Quality of Service (QoS) system to boost the overall experience of their ADSL clients.
“Until the new IPC is live, we will also be revising our QoS system to give the best overall experience, particularly with regard to HTTP downloads, to allow for higher priority for these vital services,” said Afrihost.
Afrihost said that their national network infrastructure upgrades are almost complete.
“The Johannesburg-Cape Town link has been upgraded to a 10Gbps fibre link, and the Johannesburg-Durban link is due to be completed soon,” said Afrihost.
“The additional international capacity on EASSy has been provisioned and should be live within the week.”
The company added that they will be looking at every available solution to deliver the best possible service, and to alleviate any issues experienced by uncapped users, until the additional IPC goes live.
