FNB appoints new CIO

FNB has announced that it has appointed La-Cell Mouton as the bank’s chief information officer (CIO), who will assume his new position on 1 September 2024.

Mouton has been at the bank for nearly 25 years, joining in 2000 as a developer for the bank’s online banking system, BANKit, helping to morph it into FNB’s current online banking offering.

He was appointed CIO of FNB Online Banking in 2009 and led the team responsible for combatting digital fraud, eventually creating Intelligent Data and Analytics in 2017.

In 2020, Mouton was put in charge of the Core Banking Platform, a task that would make him responsible for modernising the platform. He was later appointed as CIO of the retail segment in 2022, and then joint CIO of FNB a year later.

“La-Cell has been an integral part of our digital transformation,” FNB CEO Harry Kellan said.

“Over the past 23 years, he has helped deliver some of the most innovative products and services that have helped propel FNB beyond banking, while at the same time driving capability modernisation and IT delivery.”
