10Mbps Fibre to the Home starting from R197

ATEC recently upgraded the internet speed available to residents at Kindlewood Estate from 2 Mbps to 10 Mbps on a full fibre connection, at no cost to subscribers.

“Over the past seven years ATEC has established itself as a true Fibre to the Home service provider, with both the last mile and the back haul being fibre based (where available)”, says Frans Verwoerd, ATEC CEO.

“At Kindlewood Estate our clients now have 10Mbps synchronous connections with 1 GB of data for only R197 per month.” Verwoerd points out that their 10Mbps fibre service competes favourably with Telkom’s 10Mbps ADSL offering where users pay R413 for access alone.

“The ATEC offer includes not only the 1GB data bundle and onsite support, but is also scalable packages ranging from R45 to R60 per GB,” said Verwoerd.

Verwoerd added that ATEC is in the process of launching an uncapped service later this year at market related pricing.

According to Verwoerd their business model works because ATEC always insists that the user, in this case the Kindlewood HOA, owns the last mile connection. “Not only does it ensure that service prices are low – because no capital investment needs to be recuperated – it also ensures that our clients get the best service in the industry as ATEC is managed according to a Service Level Agreement,” said Verwoerd.

ATEC is planning to roll out a similar fibre networks and internet services at an apartment building in Umhlanga and to various developments in KZN. ATEC is also rolling out their first “non-gated community” triple play FTTH offering in the Clifton (Cape Town) area soon.

“As a founding member of the FTTH council for Africa, ATEC is committed to ensuring that the continent and South Africa in particular is not left behind and that the submarine cables connecting Africa with the rest of the world are properly utilized. We are about the consumer and this latest service offering is by far the best in the country and possibly the continent”, Verwoerd said.
