DStv adds two channels to mid-range package

MultiChoice-owned DStv is permanently adding kids’ pay-TV channels Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. to the DStv Compact package, TV with Thinus reports.

The Paramount Africa-licenced channels were previously only available on DStv Premium and Compact Plus.

Monde Twala, Paramount Africa’s senior vice president and general manager, said the move solidifies the company’s mission to provide inclusive, world-class entertainment.

“As we mark SpngeBob SquarePants’ 25th anniversary, we’re thrilled that Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. content is now available to even more families,” he said.

“This move underscores our commitment to ensuring that more families across South Africa have access to premium kids’ entertainment,” added MultiChoice Group acting head of third-party channels and partnerships, Melusi Sibisi.

Paramount will also continue to offer Nickelodeon’s Nick in Your Language initiative on Nick Toons (DStv channel 308).

Through the initiative, it broadcasts shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, DORA, and Paw Patrol in local languages on weekday mornings between 07:30 and 09:00 and in the afternoon between 15:00 and 16:00.

The Patrick Star Show 2 will air on Nickelodeon at 15:00 on Friday, 13 December 2024, followed by SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, and Young Dylan Christmas Specials on 21 December.

The shows air at 12:30, 14:10, and 18:30, respectively.

Nickelodeon will also begin broadcasting Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 23 December. The show will air on weekdays at 19:45.

On Nick Jr, viewers can watch new episodes of Rubble & Crew from 2 December. The show will broadcast on weekdays at 17:30.

New episodes of DORA will follow from 9 December, with episodes airing on weekdays at 18:00.

After that, the channel will premier “Holiday Stunt” episodes for Paw Patrol, Rubble & Crew, Hamsters of Hamsterdale, The Adventures of Paddington, and The Tiny Chef Show from 21 December 2021 at noon.
