DStv remains a big hit
Naspers has released its results for the six months ending 30 September 2014, which showed strong DStv subscriber growth. DStv covers 50 countries on the African continent and provides services to over 8.4 million homes.
Naspers’ pay-television showed subscriber growth of 342,000 households, which drove revenues up 18% to R20.2 billion. Trading profit increased 11% to R5 billion.
The margin on Naspers’ pay-TV service continues to decline – down from 25% to 23% over the last twelve months.
The personal video recorder (PVR) base expanded to 1.2 million subscribers and DStv customers are now renting some 600,000 movies per month through BoxOffice.
