MultiChoice has revealed it will launch at least four pop-up channels in 2016, following the “experimental running” of a Star Wars pop-up channel during September.

According to Channel24, chief content officer for MultiChoice Africa David Booth said the company has plans to launch more pop-up channels in the future.

Following the running of the Star Wars channel, DStv will run a kids’ channel from Turner Broadcasting during the December holiday period in SA.

Turner Broadcasting supplies MultiChoice with kids’ channels Cartoon Network and the pre-school Cartoonito programming block, as well as Boomerang.

“We want to be more fluid and offer more pop-up and events channels – it’s very much part of our strategy,” said Booth.
