Massive DStv billing problems

DStv subscribers have taken to online forums and social media to complain about various billing issues that are plaguing MultiChoice this month.

Some have complained about being over-charged for their September subscription, while others say their MultiChoice debit orders didn’t go off and they’ve subsequently been cut off.

Most troubling is that multiple people who say they cancelled their subscriptions over a year ago, reported having their bank accounts debited.

“I stopped my DStv a year ago. I checked why debits were failing this month, only to find DStv re-activated my account without permission from the account holder, then they deducted R1,181 from my account,”  a former subscriber posted on Facebook.

“DStv said it will take 5-6 working days to give my money back.”

Others whose accounts have been inactive for years have posted similar stories on Facebook, Hello Peter, and the MyBroadband forums.

Besides the billing issues, this also raises the question as to why MultiChoice still has these people’s bank account details on file.

Update: MultiChoice provided the following feedback when asked for comment.

We have recently upgraded our customer management system and some of our customers experienced billing errors. These customers will be refunded within the next few days.

We sincerely apologize for this error.
