DSTV Account suddenly reactivated

My account suddenly became active again after I cancelled my subscription months ago, apparently there was some system migration and and a number of customers accounts were reactivated.
 
Canceled two years ago. This month they stole money from my account.

I think the word stole is a bit harsh. If its a legitimate system issue then contact them and get it sorted.
 
same here, just phoned them. They cancelled it and refunded the incorrect subscription.

seems they rolled back to a version of the self service portal that was actually working, this could mean that they restored the data from that time too......

Rookie mistake no doubt, and consumers pay for it....

How is someone taking money from me without my authorisation not stealing?

The call centre is experiencing high call volumes for the last three days. Every time I call I'm number 100 and something in the line. It's not a toll free line either .

Thieving scum .

Imagine if they do this to 100 000 ex customers . If they refund them the next month that's R690 x 100 000 , one months interest on R69 million not bad.
 
Happened to me as well.

The glitch came in if there was a credit in your account and your account was dormant, according to one of their managers.
They are refunding me the full amount debited plus the amount I had in credit "asap" according to them. It certainly won't be 40 days.
 
Its still quite bad, I asked them to remove all my account info and i'm blocking them from debiting me again.

What about the people who's other debit orders are now going to bounce and bank charges they aren't going to refund that.

Would of been nice for someone from DSTV to contact me and let me know of the mistake.

I think they're still trying to identify all the affected account holders :/
 
looking at the transaction history on self service it looks like they haven't refunded the "Reconnection Fee" I guess ill have to wait and see when the money comes into my account.
 
Why, call you bank and tell them to reverse the debit order. its as simple as that.

Not really as simple, my bank (FNB) didn't want to do it over the phone. Asked me to come in to the branch. Problem for me, as they decided to close the closest branch to me a few years back, now it's an 30 minute drive to the closest one. And there's always a queue.
Luckily, I don't have problem now, they hit me last year. Fortunately, my problem was resolved, though I had to wait it out for two months. I just hope it won't happen to me now...
 
I work for Naspers and we get a sweet deal for yourself and three chid accounts. R296.40 for full service, including Dual view and such goodies.
Last month they threw one child account away, cutting of the service for 'non payment' and one of my child accounts got the R780 subtracted. Switched to other system messed up everything.
Fixed the Full price account, but missing account is missing again this month.
