Vidi slashes video streaming prices
Vidi, the streaming video on demand service from Times Media Group, has cut its subscription fee to match ShowMax’s pricing.
Its monthly subscription has dropped to R99, down from R149.
Times Media Group has also done away with its 2-day and 7-day non-recurring subscription options for Vidi.
According to the FAQs on Vidi’s website, the service now supports Airplay, allowing subscribers to send a video from their iOS device to an Apple TV.
Earlier in 2015, Vidi investor Tiso Blackstar revealed it would exit the business within the next 12 months due to poor take-up.
PCCW Global – which operates OntapTV – and Discover Digital – which runs VU with MTN – both said they weren’t interested in buying Vidi.
ShowMax said it would look at acquisition opportunities in the market, but could not comment on specific companies.
