How much DStv spent on ShowMax
ShowMax has paid MultiChoice over R20 million for unspecified goods and services, while MultiChoice has spent over R190 million on ShowMax.
These figures are in the Naspers annual results for the year ended 31 March 2016, in the notes to MultiChoice’s financial statements.
The notes to the group annual financial statements contain details on significant transactions between companies in the Naspers group.
Under “sales of goods and services”, MultiChoice listed the following transactions:
- ShowMax International: R17,818,000
- ShowMax BV: R2,937,000
Under “purchases of goods and services”, MultiChoice listed the following transactions:
- ShowMax International: R90,599,000
- ShowMax BV: R103,066,000
Naspers told MyBroadband that the numbers mentioned are not a reflection of capital expenditure.
“These inter-company sales are for items such as content purchases, licence fees, and support costs,” said Naspers.
