DStv’s new satellite will let it launch more services

Intelsat recently announced the successful launch of Intelsat 36, a satellite which will act as a backup to DStv’s current IS20 satellite.

The new satellite will also give DStv more capacity and allow it to launch more services, said MultiChoice.

MultiChoice has acquired signal from the satellite, which will be handed over to it in the near future.

“Once the satellite is handed over to us, we’ll make further announcements about what our customers can expect. Watch this space,” said MultiChoice.

Stephen Spengler, CEO of Intelsat, said Intelsat 36 will enable MultiChoice to “extend high-definition channels throughout the region”.

“We are proud to once again partner with MultiChoice as they continue to deliver high-quality services to their customers throughout sub-Saharan Africa,” he said.
