Snapchat aims to have original scripted shows on the platform before the end of the year, Variety reported.
Head of content at Snap, Nick Bell, said they are looking at shorter-form videos – as mobile is a different medium to TV.
The optimum length of a video on Snapchat remains three to five minutes, he said.
Snap has deals in place with TV networks like NBC and ABC, the BBC, Vice Media, and Time Warner – to the tune of $100 million.
Time Warner has committed to producing up to 10 new Snapchat Shows, stated the report.
Bell said Snap is not currently commissioning its own shows, and that its partners will finance them.
