DStv decoder upgrades incoming

MultiChoice will be rolling out software upgrades to its Pace 4, Pace 2, and UEC 4 decoders from 01:00 on 27 March 2012, information sent to DStv installers has revealed.

These software upgrades are to add the following enhancements:

• Search functionality (title and theme search in the TV Guide);
• Subtitles for the hearing impaired (when viewing live TV only);
• Audio leveling across decoder connectors (RF, RCA and HDMI). This solves the problem of different audio levels depending on which decoder output is linked to the TV. Sometimes when more than one decoder output was used to connect more than one TV in the home, different audio levels were experienced in the two viewing environments;
• General performance enhancements have been made including the functioning of trick-modes (FF, RW, instant replay etc.) as well as the time it takes to delete recordings.

According to the update notification, some Pace 2 and Pace 4 decoders on the IS7 network already received the update on Tuesday, 22 March 2012.

However, from 01:00 tomorrow morning, all UEC decoders, all Pace decoders on the W7 network, and some Pace decoders on IS7 are set to receive the update.
