MultiChoice announced today (19 April 2013) that from 7 May its R99/month DStv Lite package will be renamed “DStv Access” and two new channels will be added to the bouquet.

The satellite pay TV operator confirmed earlier reports that the two new channels will be called “Mzansi Wethu” and “M-Net Movies Zone”.

MultiChoice said that subscribers on the DStv Family, DStv Compact and DStv Premium packages will also receive these two new channels.

M-Net Movie Zone will launch on channel 139 and will feature a wide variety of content from comedies and dramas to family and action movies, MultiChoice said.

Mzansi Wethu will be on channel 163 and will feature local content in a variety of genres including game shows, Lokshin Bioskop movies, sitcoms, local reality shows, and a studio-based new Lokshin soap, MultiChoice said.

According to MultiChoice more than 50% of the programming on this channel will be in vernacular languages.

M-Net Movie Zone will launch at 13:00 on Thursday, 7 May and Mzansi Wethu will kick off at 18:00 on the same day, MultiChoice said.
