Power FM goes live

Power FM, a new commercial talk radio station which broadcasts throughout Gauteng and surrounding areas, has gone live today (18 June 2013).
Power FM is owned by media operating group MSG Afrika Media, a subsidiary of MSG Afrika Investment Holdings.
The station was licensed by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) in December 2011, and is available on 98.7 FM.
MSG Afrika Media said in a statement that Power FM aims to be the most credible and trusted commercial talk radio station in South Africa.
“It is targeted at adult South Africans aged between 25 and 49, who are looking for a radio station that reflects who they are and their future aspirations,” the company said.
Power FM has bagged a few big names to drive listenership, including Tim Modise, Lawrence Tlhabane (formerly Dube), Siki Mgabadeli, and Pabi Moloi.
“We want to appeal to a diverse spectrum of the South African public,” said Ferdinand Mabalane, Power FM Station Manager.
“We are very proud of the calibre of the talent we have been able to attract. We look forward to providing the very best in news and entertainment, and making a difference in the lives of our listeners by reflecting their achievements and aspirations,” said Mkhari.
