Most popular mobile messaging apps in SA
Effective Measure released its South African Mobile Report, which showed that WhatsApp is the most popular mobile instant messaging (IM) service in the country.
The South African Mobile Report is based on feedback from a survey which was completed by 4,956 desktop Internet users in South Africa.
According to the report, WhatsApp is used by over 70% of South African IM users, followed by BBM and Facebook Messenger.
Effective Measure’s report confirms World Wide Worx and Fuseware’s research which found that more than half of South African adult cellphone users living in cities and towns are using WhatsApp on their phones.
The SA Social Media Landscape 2014 report showed that the WhatsApp instant messaging app is used by at least 10.6-million South African adults.
