Vodacom is giving all of its subscribers 1GB of free data to use today (11 May 2014) as part of its twentieth birthday celebration. However, some Vodacom customers are reporting problems with the system.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, some Vodacom subscribers complained that their free data was not available.
“Just tried it. It’s not working. It says, ‘Sorry, there’s no free 1GB bundle available’,” said one Vodacom subscriber.
“45 minutes into their ‘birthday gift’ and it still won’t register and/or give any form of balance. I definitely don’t trust them,” said another.
The problem of ‘missing data’ seems to have been resolved, but some users are now complaining about slow speeds.
“Running at 69KB per second – useless,” said one user. “How long will it take for me to use up the Vodacom promotional 1GB today when all I have is an Edge signal?” said another.
Despite some negativity surrounding Vodacom’s free 1GB promotion, many people thanked Vodacom for the initiative.
“Updating everything thanks to the 1GB free data from @Vodacom. TV, MacBook, iPad, PlayStation and phone are loving me,” said a happy Vodacom customer.
“Thank you Vodacom I have a Gig smile on my face,” said another user on Twitter.
