SMS scam warning

An SMS message has been doing the rounds congratulating recipients that they have won R100 000, 00 (one hundred thousand) from Trudon Mobile.

The SMS reads: “Congratulations on winning this week’s Trudon Mobile competition. To claim your prize of R100 000, 00, kindly contact Johan on 078 381 1329 or telefax (011) 507 5752. Email: [email protected]

“This is a scam and Trudon has nothing to do with this so-called competition. We have taken a legal route on the matter and our attorneys are dealing with the issue,” says Lionel Smith, GM Marketing for Trudon, publishers of Yellow Pages and owners of Trudon Mobile.

“Trudon advises anyone who receives such an SMS not to respond to it for the so-called Johan, requests that recipients sends him a copy of their identity document and banking details to claim the R100 000, 00,” Trudon said.
