Vodacom network problems in Durban
Vodacom subscribers in Durban took to the web on 19 February 2015 to complain about a lack of connectivity.
“@Vodacom hey guys watz up, no comms here in Durban. Is Vodacom closed! Please send SMS to at least inform us that there is a problem. Frantic,” Twitter user Faizal Kahan posted.
On the MyBroadband forums users started complaining about a lack of service on Wednesday evening, with some adding that they couldn’t make or receive calls in Umhlanga either.
Queried about the problems, a spokesperson for Vodacom said there appears to be a transmission issue causing intermittent problems with data connectivity and calls for some customers in KwaZulu-Natal.
No further details were available at the time of publication, but Vodacom promised to provide updates as soon as more information came to light.
Update: Vodacom has said that the issue affecting subscribers in KZN appears to have been addressed and services are recovering. Initial indications are that the cause of the problem was software-related in the core network, but Vodacom said it is still investigating.
