LG GT350 local launch date

The LG GT350 “Chatterbox Plus” will officially be launched on 26 August 2010 according to invitations sent out today.

According to LG the device is aimed at social networking “addicts,” sporting a 240×400 resistive TFT touch screen and full QWERTY slide-out keyboard.

While official specifications haven’t been released for the South African incarnation of the phone, internationally the phone has these features:

  1. EDGE, GPRS, GSM in the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 bands
  2. Bluetooth 2.1
  3. USB 2.0 via a micro USB port
  4. 56MB internal memory
  5. 8GB external memory supported via MicroSD and MicroSDHC
  6. 2 MP camera
  7. AAC, eAAC, MP3, MP4, WMA audio player
  8. MP4 video player (MPEG4, H.264, 3GP)
  9. Accelerometer for auto-rotate
  10. DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF document viewers

In addition to the GT350, LG will also open the 2010 LG Mobile World Cup at the launch event. This annual competition seeks to find the fastest texter in South Africa and the world.

This year’s contestants will hail from 20 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, the Philippines, the US, Venezuela and Vietnam.
