Cell C R499 handset launched
Cell C recently unveiled its first Cell C branded handset which is compatible with the UMTS900 frequency used across much of Cell C’s 21 megabit per second (Mbps) HSPA+ data network.
The Cell C F250 features an MP3 player, Java applications and games, 2 megapixel (MP) camera and video recorder, 15 megabyte (MB) on-board memory and an integrated web browser with pre-loaded shortcuts to Facebook and YouTube.
Cell C’s executive head of marketing, Simon Camerer said the company is providing customers from all income groups the opportunity to have access to fast and affordable voice and data communications.
“In addition to the handset, customers will also receive 200MB of data, 50 on-net minutes and 100 SMS’s once-off, when they activate their Cell C Welcomepack Sim Card,” said Camerer.

According to Cell C the F250 mobile phone is available at all their retail outlets.
8ta also has a cheap Huawei handset on offer, the G2101. This device sports a colour screen, albeit somewhat smaller at 1.47 inches compared to the F250’s 2 inches.
8ta’s G2101 also doesn’t have a camera or 3G support, nor does it come with any bundled data, SMSes or airtime, but it is currently on special for R99.
