When HTC first unveiled the HTC Sensation for the South African market in May 2011, they said that the device should be available from June 2011. Leaf International Communications, official distributor of HTC products in South Africa, later said that they estimate the device’s recommended price to be R5,310.
June 2011 has come and gone and the HTC Sensation has yet to surface through official channels, but Vodacom and Virgin Mobile have said that the device should be available within the next few days.
Virgin Mobile confirmed that they will still be offering the HTC Sensation on one of their Classic 300 contracts and said that it should be in their retail channel next week.
Vodacom’s chief officer of corporate affairs, Portia Maurice, revealed that they should have the HTC Sensation available in stores by the end of the week.
Neither Virgin nor Vodacom provided cash pricing for the device.
8ta said that they plan to launch the device in August or September 2011 and will announce pricing and plans for it at a later date.
Teddy Maduna, senior manager at MTN SA for device portfolio management, revealed that “MTN has not ranged the HTC Sensation at this stage.”
Cell C was contacted for comment, but did not provide feedback by the time of publication.
