Cell C to offer iPhone soon

Cell C has reached an agreement with Apple and will soon start to offer products such as the iPhone to South Africans.

To date Cell C has not offered the popular iPhone to customers, but new Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig said that they will launch the iPhone within the next few months.

In September 2008 Vodacom was the first company to offer the iPhone 3G in South Africa in an exclusive agreement with Apple.

After Vodacom’s exclusivity agreement expired, MTN also began offering the iPhone to their subscribers.

8ta previously said that it was in discussions with Apple about launching the iPhone in South Africa, but no further details have been made available about their progress.

“Our NDA with Apple prevents us from commenting about iPhone at this time,” said Amith Maharaj, senior managing executive at Telkom Mobile.
