8ta network growing; disruptive voice packages planned

8ta is steadily growing its network, and had 1,849 base stations built with 1,316 live sites by the end of May 2012. This is according to Telkom CEO Nombulelo Moholi.
Telkom unveiled its annual results for the year ended 31 March 2012 today (8 June 2012), which showed that its active mobile subscribers increased 213% to 1,483,401 with a blended ARPU (average revenue per user) of R68.86.
According to Moholi 51% of their mobile voice subscribers are active on their own network while 85% of their data subscribers are using the 8ta network.
Moholi pointed out that 8ta has launched highly competitive and leading data offerings, and that these data offerings will include disruptive voice packages in future.
