Hetzner’s new data centre taking shape: photos
Hetzner announced earlier this year that it is constructing a new data centre data centre in Samrand, Gauteng, and the facility is nearing completion.
This data centre design is based on Hetzner’s German engineered data centre structure and technology.
“Hetzner South Africa’s building design and data centre efficiencies have been modelled off of Hetzner Online’s German facilities, including reducing our dependency on power intensive air-conditioning,” said Athena Turner, marketing and communications manager for Hetzner.
“Whenever the ambient temperature allows for it, we will make use of direct free cooling which reduces power consumption significantly,” said Turner.
The new facility, with a hosting capacity of 1,200 square meters, can house in excess of 12,000 servers.
Hetzner said that it expects to open the doors of its new Gauteng facility in late 2013.
MyBroadband paid Hetzner’s data centre construction site a visit, and the following photos show that the construction of the new facility is progressing well.
