Bitcoin drops below $8,000
Bitcoin has fallen to just below $8,000, according to international indicators.
The price move follows Bitcoin dropping through the $9,000 mark earlier today.
According to CoinDesk, Bitcoin sunk to $7,995 at the time of writing.
The price drop follows speculation that Bitcoin will not receive the widespread government and user acceptance it needs to become a global payment system.
Data from CoinMarketCap shows the price of the cryptocurrency peaked at just over $20,000 on 17 December, before beginning a steady decline in the new year.
