Eskom workers go on strike

NUM members employed by Eskom have downed tools as part of a wage strike.
According to a report by Fin24, Eskom said the strike had not yet affected its 27 power stations.
Eskom said its employees were prohibited by law from striking.
NUM said its members at three Eskom power stations were on strike, with more workers set to join them.
The union stated that wage talks with Eskom were deadlocked over the weekend – which is offering a 7% increase.
NUM is demanding a 12% increase for maximum wage earners and a 13% increase for minimum wage earners.
