iPad vs iPhone vs iPod
Mary Meeker, a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, recently unveiled her presentation called the “2012 Internet Trends Year-End Update”, showing that Apple’s iPad is shipping many more units than the iPhone or iPod.
The 2012 Internet Trends Year-End Update report is an update on Meeker’s 2012 Internet Trends research which focused on global Internet stats, business models associated with mobile and social online environments and economic trends related to the Internet.
Meeker’s latest report shows that the iPad proved far more popular than the iPhone and iPod when looking at cumulative unit shipments after each device was launched.
“iPods changed the media industry, but iPhones ramped even faster after launch,” the report states. “However, iPad growth leaves its siblings in the dust.”
The following graph shows the global cumulative unit shipments of each device for the ten quarters after it was launched.
