Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox console will feature support for AMD’s FreeSync technology, reported Eurogamer.
Project Scorpio will reportedly support monitors with variable refresh rates thanks to its HDMI 2.1 specification.
FreeSync support means that if the 4K gaming console cannot deliver a stable 60 frames-per-second during gaming, frame drops and screen tearing will be less noticeable.
AMD’s FreeSync technology allows the refresh rate of the monitor to be controlled by the GPU instead of maintaining a locked 60Hz or 120Hz refresh rate.
Eurogamer said while there are currently no TVs with support for variable refresh rates, users will be able to experience the technology after connecting the console to a monitor with FreeSync support.
Microsoft’s upcoming 4K gaming console is expected to release at the end of 2017.
