Copper cable thieves arrested

Copper cable

“When we conducted a search on Thursday morning at Extension 15 we found copper valued at R17,010,” Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana said.

Police were doing a follow-up on stolen goods when they searched a shack and found suspected stolen copper which weighed 350 kilograms.

The owner of the shack denied ownership and tried to avoid arrest by offering a police officer a R1000 bribe.

He led police to a 29-year-old man who he said used his shack to store the copper cable.

The two men would appear at the Welkom Magistrates’ Court, Khosana said.
