Damn you, this is not Android 4.3
A consumer lodged a successful complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) against Cell C’s advertising which stated that the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini runs on Android 4.3.
According to the complainant the Cell C ad was misleading because Android 4.3 is not available on the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini in South Africa.
Cell C responded through Clear Copy which confirmed that there was an error that was not picked up on proofreading. The advertising should have read “Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)” and not “4.3”.
Cell C promised to replace the booklets in stores at the end of February, and that the new brochures would include a correction on the error.
The company also informed stores about the error, and an A4 correction poster for in-store display was circulated.
The ASA accepted Cell C’s undertaking to correct the error without any action against the company.
