Raspberry Pi 2 Model B surprise launch, SA price
Raspberry Pi released a new version of its credit card-sized computer on 2 February 2015, dubbed the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.
The new model has many of the same features as the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+, but is powered by an upgraded system-on-chip, The Register reports.
According to Raspberry Pi, this new processor has four 32-bit ARMv7 Cortex-A7 cores with 1GB of RAM, offering up to six times greater performance than its predecessor.
The Register reported that the foundation’s boss, Eben Upton, said that the “6x” claim was based on SysBench test results.
RS Components in South Africa already lists the new Raspberry Pi 2 Model B on its website for R446.86.
