MyBroadband recently conducted its latest Technology Survey, which established the favourite computer brands of South African IT professionals and techies.
The survey was completed by 2,610 people, of which the majority were IT professionals and general techies.
For this article, only the answers from the IT professionals and techies were used – which included their favourite computer, monitor, CPU, printer, and hard drive brands.
This influential group is behind many of the computing purchasing decisions of their companies, family members, and friends.
It is therefore not surprising that computing companies closely follow this group, and try to win their favour.
The survey results show that Dell is the favourite computer brand among techies, followed closely by Apple and Asus.
When it came to monitors, Samsung was a clear winner, followed by LG in second place and Dell in third place.
There was nearly no competition in the CPU market, where Intel was the preferred brand of nearly 90% of techies.
The favourite hard drive brand was Seagate, edging out WD, Samsung, and Toshiba.
HP was the favourite printer brand, with Canon in second place, Samsung third, and Brother fourth.
The infographic below shows the favourite computing brands among South Africa’s IT professionals and techies.
