HD TV Chip from AMD
It is also compatible with HDTV/DTV/analogue broadcast signals including NTSC, PAL/SECAM, ATSC, ClearQAM and DVB-T.
Using Windows Media centre for XP, Vista or Windows 7 users will be able to schedule recordings, pause, fast-forward and rewind live TV and store recorded content onto a PC hard drive.
This, says AMD, will solve storage capacity constraints that current DVR decoders present. DSTV’s HD PVR for example is restricted to storing content on its 250GB hard drive.
ATI Theater HD 750 is scheduled to be available from supporting manufacturers later this year in a variety of solutions including PCI Express add-in cards and USB.
“ATI Theater HD 750 combines AMD’s longstanding reputation for video expertise with consumer demand for a cost effective, easy to use and high quality TV on the PC experience,” said Matt Skynner, Vice President & General Manager, GPU Division, AMD Products Group. “ATI Theater HD 750, in combination with ATI Radeon graphics and AMD mobile technology-based notebooks, provides a simplified, high-quality home-theatre solution.”
There has, as yet, been no announcement regarding local pricing details.
