New MacBook Pro unveiled
Apple has announced a refresh to its line of MacBook Pro notebook computers at its event in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, 22 October 2013.
Both the 13-inch and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro received an update, but Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing at Apple, Phil Schiller, was silent on the non-Retina models.
According to Schiller, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display includes Intel’s Iris graphics and comes with PCI Express (PCIe) and solid state drives (SSDs).
Its Wi-Fi capabilities also received an upgrade to 802.11ac.
The base model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with a 2.4GHz dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It is set to retail for $1,299 in the US and starts shipping today (22 October 2013), Schiller said.
The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is powered by Intel’s Iris integrated GPU, with some models offering a GeForce GT 750M.
Its base model is a 2.0GHz quad-core Intel i7, with 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD – it is set to retail for $1,999 from today.
