DStv website downtime: MultiChoice responds
A number of DStv websites were inaccessible on the morning of Wednesday, 30 April 2014, including the the main DStv.com site, SuperSport, Catch Up, and BoxOffice.
The problem has since been resolved, a spokesperson of MultiChoice told MyBroadband, when asked about the downtime.
News of the outage followed reports that many websites on the South African government’s Internet domain (gov.za) were also down on Wednesday.
Asked whether DStv was affected by a larger problem that may also have affected gov.za, MultiChoice said that they do not have any further details at present, as their investigation is still underway.
“MultiChoice is aware of the outages on the DStv and SuperSport websites, as well as sites linked to those such as DStv Catch Up and BoxOffice,” the company said, adding that the relevant technical teams are investigating the outages.
“We would like to assure our customers that this is receiving our full attention,” MultiChoice said.
The State Information Technology Agency, which manages the gov.za domain, did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.
