Gmail Voice and Video chat (finally) on Linux

After almost two years of waiting, Linux users can finally use Google’s voice and video chat functionality in Gmail.

Tristan Schmelcher, a software engineer, writes in the official Gmail Blog that you can visit gmail.com/videochat to download the plugin needed to implement the functionality.

Currently it’s only available for Debian-based Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu), but Schmelcher promised that RPM support (presumably for Fedora and Red Hat) is imminent. This will allow Fedora and Red Hat Linux users to access these features as well.
