Gmail now has 1 billion monthly users
Gmail now has one billion monthly active users, Alphabet announced during an earnings call.
Google also has many other products with one billion users, including its search service, Chrome, Play, YouTube, Android, and Maps.
Google launched Gmail in 2004 as an invitation-only service, and shook up the market by offering 1GB of storage instead of the usual few megabytes which was common at the time.
In June 2012, it became the most widely-used web-based email provider in the world, with 425 million active users.
Thanks a billion for helping us make Gmail better and better!https://t.co/Rd82YqwGjl
