New and cheaper virtual hosting services
MyBroadband recently reported that MWEB Business is set to launch affordable virtual dedicated server hosting products with aggressive pricing plans.
Within hours of this news going live MyBroadband received news from both Afrihost and Gamco that they have also unveiled their latest dedicated cloud server offerings.
Gamco, which already has 200 clients using their VMware Enterprise infrastructure, announced significant price cuts to its dedicated cloud server offerings.
Gamco’s dedicated cloud server pricing starts at R499 per month for an entry level product (1 CPU, 512 KB RAM, 20GB storage and 5GB traffic) and goes up to R3,253 for a high end service (2 CPUs, 4GB RAM, 200GB storage and 50GB traffic).
Afrihost also announced their ‘cloud hosting’ offering, starting at R590 per month for a low end service (0.5 vCPU, 1GB RAM, 25GB storage and 10GB traffic) and going up to R1,990 per month for a high end server (4 vCPUs, 4GB RAM, 100GB storage and 50GB traffic).
Afrihost said that this service also carries its well known ‘double your money back’ guarantee where clients who are not ‘completely happy’ with the products within 60 days will get a double refund – no questions asked.
Cloud computing has become a buzzword in the IT market in recent times, and with the numerous new and more affordable virtual hosting solutions in the local market, South African consumers look set to benefit.
