Twitter Lite has data saver mode
Twitter has launched a new “Lite” mobile version of its service, aimed at users on 2G networks.
It loads quickly on slower connections, is resilient on unreliable networks, and takes up less than 1MB on a device.
It also has up to 30% faster launch times and quicker navigation throughout Twitter.
The lightweight version of Twitter includes access to your timeline, posting Tweets, Direct Messages, trends, profiles, media uploads, and notifications.
Data saver
Twitter Lite has a data saver mode, which the company said will further reduce the amount of mobile data used.
In this mode, you will see previews of images and videos before choosing what to load – which Twitter said can reduce data usage by up to 70%.
Twitter Lite in browsers further offers push notifications and offline support.
