SAIX problem causes connectivity chaos

Internet IP transit globe network

Numerous broadband users and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have reported connectivity issues which seems to be linked to problems on the SAIX network.

ADSL subscribers reported that they are struggling to connect to both local and international websites and services.

Internet Solutions and MWEB alerted their subscribers that the connectivity issues are caused by problems on the SAIX network.

“Please note that there is currently an issue with MWEB to SAIX peering in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. This will affect members trying to access SAIX based services and SAIX based members accessing MWEB based services. Traffic being re-routed via International,” MWEB said.

Internet Solutions said that SAIX problems are causing packet loss and increased latency for their clients across the country.

According to the network notices the problems started around 14:30 on Friday, and MWEB reported that the issue was resolved at 16:40.
