Tesla Model S gets Autopilot
Tesla’s Model S cars have received a software upgrade which includes Autopilot – allowing for hands-free and pedal-free driving on the highway.
The New York Times reported that the upgrade means cars may soon “drive us, rather than the other way around”.
The Autopilot upgrade allows the car to change lanes autonomously at the driver’s request, and uses sensors to scan the road in all directions and adjust the throttle, steering, and brakes.
The report stated this is the first time a production vehicle available to consumers will have such advanced self-driving capabilities.
