This USB Killer will instantly kill your computer

DIY YouTuber Thomas Kim has shown how a USB stick can be used to kill a computer, as reported by The Next Web.

A $49 version of the device is on sale, which plugs into a PC and “fires a surge of power” through the computer’s motherboard – which is susceptible if not properly insulated.

Kim’s video shows that it is not difficult to create a similar device by combining camera flash parts with an AA battery.

“The device delivers 300 volts when plugged into an unsuspecting computer. It’s effectively the same as a power surge, but the difference is that most power supplies have protection against those,” stated the report.

“USB buses often can’t offer the same kind of resistance, and consequently relay the energy to the rest of the computer, instantly killing it.”
