ARM launches security framework for IoT devices

ARM has unveiled a common industry framework for protecting Internet of Things devices.

ARM aims to tackle the problem of IoT security by building a security framework which will be used across all ARM-based devices.

The framework is called Platform Security Architecture (PSA) and is endorsed by Azure, Cisco, Google Cloud Platform, and Silicon Labs.

ARM said it would release a reference firmware implementation conforming to the PSA specification to help speed up the adoption of the framework.

The majority of IoT devices use ARM processors, and the company expects to have shipped 200 billion chips by 2021.
